Revolution kills adult fleas and flea eggs and is recommended to control flea infestations. Keep in mind that it can take up to 6 weeks (or longer, depending on temperature) before all fleas in your pet’s environment are killed. Revolution also prevents heartworm disease and controls roundworms and ear mites in cats and dogs.
This product controls hookworms in cats only. And controls ticks and sarcoptic mange in dogs only.
Revolution is indicated for litter protection in puppies and kittens against flea and nematode infestations at birth. By treating the mom, the puppies and kittens will recieve secondary protection. Do not give this product directly to puppies under 6 weeks of age or to kittens under 8 weeks of age.
Give your pet heartworm prevention year round or during the mosquito season. Keep an eye on the temperature; the heartworm larva requires approximatly 2 weeks of daily temperatures at or above 80 degrees Fahrenheit to develop inside the mosquito before your pet can become infected. The larvae stop developing when temperatures fall below 57 degrees Fahrenheit. Make sure you don’t have any mosquitoes in the house, where temperatures are usually higher year round.
Signs & Symptoms of Heartworm Disease; coughing (with or without blood), weight loss, fainting, congested heart failure.
CAUTION – Salemectin works differently than other heartworm preventatives. It effectively prevents the development of adult heartworms when given to your dog or cat within one month of exposure to infective heartworm larvae. Revolution is not 100% effective agains heartworms after 2 months of infection. It is therefore recommended that puppies and kittens receive their first dose of Revolution before they are 2 months old and that you do not wait more than 2 months between giving your pets heartworm prevention during the mosquito season.
CAUTION – There is always a risk of developing parasite resistance to a parasite preventative when used for a long period of time. We recommend that fecal tests are run once or twice a year to determine the efficacy of the product.
